Happy Father's Day...

... to wonderful fathers everywhere. I lost my own special dad twenty seven years ago, but he feels as close to me as ever. He still whispers in my ear when I get despondent, gently nudges me back on the path of self belief whenever I veer off, and urges me toward my goals and dreams. I can hear his wise words in many situations. Dad was an armchair philosopher, a sage with an encouraging smile. He could also be tough when required, and didn't mince his words. Whenever I said I couldn't do something, he'd tell me in no uncertain terms that if that's what I believed, then that was what would become true.

To dad - my very first hero.

A good way to end the week

Nothing quite like a pamper session at Bath's Thermae Spa to get the weekend off to a great start. Met a friend mid-morning then we headed for the rooftop pool, where you simply glide through the warm mineral-rich waters (that's Bath Abbey in the distance). Then we dragged ourselves down to the aroma steam rooms, where you can cool off under the waterfall shower before heading down to the Minerva Pool.

Here, the gentle current effortlessly tugs you around the pool. Then it was back to the rooftop (my favourite) to finish the session. All too soon it was over, so we consoled ourselves with lunch. It's a tough life. Ahh... already planning the next visit.

Take a look at the Thermae Spa's website where you can view a video of what's on offer.

Remembering the Heroes

Today is the 65th anniversary of D-Day, the biggest wartime operation ever. Hundreds of thousands of British & Allied personnel fought to ensure our freedom. Head over to The Royal British Legion's website where you can leave your own personal message on a virtual flag planted on a virtual beach in Normandy.
